Alice Sun, OD

Studied at New England College of Optometry in Boston and the University of California San Diego

Dr. Alice Sun is a therapeutic optometrist specializing in the treatment and management of eye diseases, including glaucoma. With her extensive training, she possesses expertise in specialty contact lenses, disease management, and providing preoperative and postoperative care for patients. Dr. Sun obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from the University of California San Diego, where she actively volunteered in local hospitals and participated in medical trips to El Salvador, lending her assistance to underprivileged communities abroad. Her experiences during these travels ignited a profound passion for optometry, leading her to pursue a Doctorate from the esteemed New England College of Optometry. As an active member of both the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association, Dr. Sun remains committed to staying current with the latest advancements in her field. Dr. Sun embraces her Southern California roots and takes pleasure in exploring Los Angeles to discover diverse and exciting cuisines. She maintains a healthy lifestyle by practicing yoga, hiking, and playing the piano. Early in her career, Dr. Sun practiced in Beverly Hills, where she fostered close professional relationships with renowned experts. She is continually expanding her knowledge while enjoying the vibrant culture of Southern California.

Daniel Sjolund, OD

Studied at New England College of Optometry in Boston and the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota

Dr. Daniel Sjolund is a therapeutic optometrist with glaucoma certification. Born and raised in Minnesota, Dr. Sjolund obtained his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Biochemistry from the University of St. Thomas. He further pursued his passion for optometry by earning a Doctorate from the prestigious New England College of Optometry. Throughout his career, Dr. Sjolund has provided optometric care in Massachusetts, Minnesota, and California. As an active member of the American Optometric Association, he remains up-to-date with the latest advancements in the field. Dr. Sjolund specializes in low vision, pediatrics, and the surgical co-management of LASIK and cataracts. Having made Southern California his home for several years, he finds joy in photography, martial arts, and music composition.

Matthew Thornton, OD

Studied at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in Davie, Florida and the University of Florida

Dr. Matthew Thornton is a therapeutic optometrist with glaucoma certification and is trained to treat and manage a multitude of eye diseases. Dr. Thornton was born and raised in South Florida and received his Bachelor of Science in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida. He then continued his education at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry graduating with honors. He completed rotations in pediatrics, specialty contact lens fitting, low vision, and ocular disease. His hobbies include weight lifting, keeping freshwater fish, a little gaming, hiking in the California hills, and rock climbing. Dr. Thornton is pleased to now be in California and looks forward to serving the patients at Sunshine Optometry.

Adrig Sarian, OD

Studied at Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California and California State University

Dr. Adrig Sarian is a therapeutic optometrist certified in the treatment of glaucoma and has extensive training in diseases affecting the anterior and posterior segments of the eyes. Dr. Sarian has spent most of his life in California, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology at CSU Northridge while also conducting research in a biochemical lab. He then continued to complete his Doctorate at Southern California College of Optometry and graduated in 2019 with honors. Dr. Sarian is particularly skilled at treating and managing ocular disease, fitting specialty contact lenses, managing binocular disorders that affect the function of both eyes together, and co-managing surgical patients. During his free time, he enjoys large gatherings with friends and family, camping, cliff diving, and all water sports.
